Captured images, from 2020 to 2021 of the Symphytum x uplandicum, as companion to other plants, along with a list of companion combos I like... I live in a location that the soil is basically ‘Clay’at the bottom of a water basin and one of the things I like about Comfrey, is the ability of its roots to break up heavy clay, thus creating channels for aeration and better water absorption, not unlike dandelion roots which keep popping up in this location. Comfrey is also an excellent source of biomass, producing up to 120 tons per acre. This is a diary of my companioned photos from my botanical diary from 2020 to 2021. From the Chapter ‘Symphytum x uplandicum (Russian Comfrey)’ Ivy, Silver Dust and the Russian Comfrey with the Gabion planter in the background... Companions I like with Russian Comfrey;
In the Raised Moonboot garden the Comfrey grows among Pink wave Succulents, Ivy, Silver dust, circling a young Birch treeling, as Cosmos and Cornflowers shoot through... Hugging the base of the European Birch tree... Growing around Elder bushes, among Russian kale, and Yarrow, in the Moon garden Gabion planters... In the Venus raised garden bed, Russian Comfrey skirts at the base of both an Elderberry bush or tree and Lemon Meyer citrus, companioned also with wild strawberries, Rhubarb and Zinnias... Spot the Elderberry nature spirit misting through... The Venus gardenbed converted into a raised gardenbed... I love training long stems of the Russian Comfrey up the many trunks of the Elderberry bush...
