Captured images, from 2020 to 2021 of the Symphytum X uplandicum, ‘greening’ growth, growing from cut divisions. The greening images are pre-blooming of any flowers and pre the budding phase. This European medicinal plant is a favourite mine and in ethnobotany which is ethnically European, we referred to this plant as knit bone for its ability to heal bones and wounds. There 're quite a few species of the Symphytum Genus which includes Common Comfrey (Symphytum officinale) and Prickly Comfrey (Sympphytum asperum) with Russian Comfrey shown here, being a cross between the two. In this post I have also bullet pointed my approach to propagation via divisions, along with the relative photos. This is a diary of photos from my botanical diary in 2020-2021. From the Chapter ‘Symphytum x uplandicum (Russian Comfrey)’ Propagating from Root cuttings Here I have a massive root bulb and I use it to make lots of baby cuttings or plants. I personally prefer propagation via cuttings method, but it can be a task with a mature comfrey like this one. This is where the handsaw comes in. Steps I take;
A propagated shoot in his new home... The beauty of the greening of the Comfrey... Russian Comfrey companioned with the European or Silver Birch tree... The Comfrey, Cosmos and the Blonde Bee... The Ivy, the Silver Dust Centaurian and the Russian Comfrey sharing space in the Moonboot garden bed, with a German Gabion planted with stone and companioned with both Russian Comfrey and the European Elderberry tree...
